As a Deputy Marshal, You Will:
- Keep judges, attorneys, staff, and visitors safe
- Monitor security systems and manage detainees
- Maintain order in the courtroom
- Respond to emergencies
- Act as liaison between court staff, attorneys, and the public
- Assist with detainee transportation and other safety operations

Are You Eligible?
- Age – Must be at least 21 years of age before graduating the academy.
- Education – Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Fitness – Must be able to pass the P.O.S.T. pre-agility fitness standards.
- Certification – No prior certifications required; all training provided upon hire.
- Work Authorization – Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available)
- Driver’s License – Valid Nevada Class C license required
Certifications You’ll Earn:
- Nevada P.O.S.T. Category I Law Enforcement Certification (academy costs covered)
- Weapons qualification
- CPR certification
Selection Process:
- Pre-Screening Questionnaire: Interested candidates will complete a pre-screening questionnaire.
- Physical Readiness Test: Upon successful completion of the questionnaire, candidates will be scheduled for a physical readiness test in accordance with Nevada P.O.S.T. standards.
- Interview: Candidates who pass the physical test will be invited to an interview.
- Conditional Offer: After the interview, candidates may receive a conditional offer of employment.
- Background Check: Conditional hires will undergo a thorough background check.
- Academy Enrollment: Successful candidates will be enrolled in the P.O.S.T. Category I Academy as full-time employees of the District Court, contingent on passing both the academy and a probationary period.
No Repayment Required: If a candidate does not complete the academy, they are not required to repay any costs associated with the certification process.
